The Presidents Report.
Our meeting on Tuesday 13th April was a great success. Forty six people turned up to eat, talk and find out what was happening. I counted over thirty minis in the car park. People going outside to look at the new arrivals. David Perkins' newly restored Cooper S 1971 model was there. Two Coopers, numerous Cooper S’s, Charles Nwen’s panel van, a Maxi and a Kimberley were also in the car park. Also a Porche ????? must have been one of the pilots!
Our thanks must go to Lindsay Snell for the use of Austcopters (rides $50) premises, and to Bob Ward for the BBQ, food & drinks. At not to forget Mark for his change. Bruce Dixon from Vigil Insurance clarified insurance problems with his address. It is interesting to know that you can insure your vehicle whilst being rebuilt.
The report on our day run from Mt Coot-tha to Mt Glorious (Jolly’s Lookout) will be presented in next month’s mag. I hope the weather remained fine.
Those who didn’t attend the meeting will be pleased to know it started at 6.30 with food & drinks and a chat, then at 7.30 a call started the meeting on time and welcomed Mr Bruce Dixon from Vigil. A talk on insurance took till 8.00. The meeting resumed and all general business discussed with the meeting closed at 9.15. Peter Bossie Boss showed us the range of steering wheels for sale at a good price. Contact him on 33794822. Long boring meetings are not necessary!
I can’t go this month without saying a quick word about our latest project. We were commissioned by Mr Brendon Ward to install a Japanese engine in his unreliable Mini Matic. With ventilated discs, camira fuel pump, meters of pipework and a “cat” later, he is enjoying his 1.3L fuel injected 1993 Rover Cooper Engine. It is lovely to drive with 28,000km on the clock.
Yours in minis.
Glen Carpenter.
